Emilie Heymans and her partner Jennifer Abel won Canada's first medal on Day Two of the 2012 Olympic games in London. They won bronze in the Women's Sychronized 3m Springboard Diving competition. Heyman also set a Canadian record by becoming the first athlete to win medals in four straight Olympics. Congratulations Emilie and Jennifer
Another milestone for Canada yesterday. The Women's Gymnastics team qualified for the final for the first time ever.
The other big story for Canada on Day Two was whether veteran Olympian, Clara Hughes would win a medal in the Women' Road Race in Cycling. Unfortunately, she didn't win a medal, but she did finished 32nd with a time of 3:36:01 Good try Clara! You have done Canada proud over the years. The top Canadian in the race was Joelle Numainville who finished 12th with a time of 3:35:56.
The U.S. Men's 4x100m Freestyle relay team finished second in the final last night, taking the silver medal. France took the gold and Russia took the bronze.
My Blue Jays were unable to sweep the Tigers as the lost yesterday 4-1.
I also watched a rather exiting ballgame last night between Boston and the New York Yankees. Boston won in extra innings 3-2.
Finally, Scott Piercy won the RBC Canadian Open yesterday by one stroke (-17).
