This might sound familiar but in case you didn't already know, Andrew McCutchen is pretty good at life, especially baseball. That's probably why he was named the NL Player of the Month...again. Cutch was June's POM too and became the first Pirate since Bobby Bonilla way back in 1988 to be the best of the best in back-to-back months. Respect.
Cutch won June's POM by leading the majors with 40 hits and he one-upped that in July by leading the league again with 41 hits and 12 multi-hit games. His ridiculous batting line of .446/.510/.739 probably didn't hurt either. And he added 7 homers and 15 RBI to his season totals.
He's on MVP pace and a triple crown still isn't impossible - his .373 average is 21 points better than second place, and he's 7 homers and 10 RBI short of leading all categories - but if Cutch wants to win a third-straight POM, he needs to pick it up a bit. He's 2 for 3 with 3 runs and a double in August but he hasn't stolen a base since June 19 or hit a homer since July 17 and only has 1 RBI since then...but we're not complaining.
