Canada won another medal yesterday. The Women's Eight Rowing team won silver.

Gabby Douglas of the United States won gold in the women's individual all-around gymnastics final yesterday.  Victoria Komov of Russia won silver and her teammate Aliya Mustafina won bronze.

Michael Phelps beat teammate Ryan Lochte in the 200 metre individual medley.  Laszio Csech from Hungry won the bronze.

The New York Islanders have signed first-round pick Griffin Reinhart to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Vancouver have signed second-round pick Alexandre Mallet.

Winnipeg has promoted Larry Simmons to assistant general manager.

My Blue Jays lost their fifth game in a row last night, losing to Oakland 4-1. 

The Toronto Baseball Writers have named Jay's starting pitcher, Carlos Villanueva Player of the Month for July.  The right-hander was a perfect 4-0 with a 1.93 ERA.

I also caught some of the Los Angeles Angels/Texas game last night.  The Rangers won 14-9.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired Joe Blanton from Philadelphia in exchange for a player to be named later.

Miami's Jose Reyes extends his hit streak to a career high 22 games.

Lance Berkman of the St Louis Cardinals was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right knee inflammation.

Washington have acquired Kurt Suzuki from Oakland in exchange for Minor League catcher, David Freitas.

Houston has placed closer Francisco Cordero on the 15-day D.L. with a inflamed right big toe.
