Team Canada defeated Great Britain 2-0 in the women's soccer quarter-finals yesterday. Canada will now face the powerful U.S. team in the semi-finals.
In other olympic news: Michael Phelps won yet another gold medal last night, this time in the 100m butterfly. Evgeny Korotryshkin from Russia won silver and Chad le Clos from South Africa won bronze.
Now to some baseball.
My Blue Jays put up one heck of a fight last night, but came up short as Oakland defeated them 5-4 in extra innings.
I also watched the Pittsburgh/Cincinnati game as well. The Reds shut out the Pirates 3-0.
Philadelphia's catcher, Carlos Ruiz was put on the 15-day disabled list with a plantar fasciitis in his left foot.
Miami's Emilio Bonifacio is on the D.L. with a left thumb sprain.
B.J. and Justin Upton both hit their 100th career home run last night. Congratulations guys.

The Stanley Cup Champions, Los Angeles Kings have signed first-round pick, Tanner Pearsonto a three-year, entry-level contract.
Toronto has signed first-round pick, Morgan Rielly to a three-year, entry-level contract.
