After posting up a video on another blog thread, I decided to just make this subject a blog of it's own. I'm just looking for personal reasons for your selection(s), like a short story on why you became so attached to a particular sports person or even a moment like the Miracle '80 Hockey team...etc.
If it's already been picked, well, just pick it again with another video and write your story for picking it. I expect a lot of people will connect similarly with several other high profile choices. No matter, just go with the flow as it were.
Looking forward to seeing the choices people make, and perhaps others will too depending on the level of participation. Have fun......that's an order! AIRBORNE!!

This was the first horse I ever followed as a teenager through it's entire racing career, and have never followed another horse since. I seriously believe I saw a gift from the creator whenever I watched this horse race, and I cried like a little kid when he crossed the finish line for the last time. "Big Red" was everything a horse should be....just magnificent!

This man is the reason I became a 55 year and counting fan of the New York Yankees.....I fell in love with Mickey Charles Mantle in 1957 when I was 7 years old......I wanted to be just like him as a ballplayer......My favorite number is 7...........To me the 50s and 60s were the Golden Age of baseball...We saw one game a week on Saturday but I lay awake every night listening to baseball on a small cheap portable radio.......Then after the game I would play a nine inning game in my head where I played in the outfield with Mickey Mantle......

I'm still thinking about it WDT, there are so many to choose from, but just wanted to say I really enjoyed your Mickey Mantle video, M71961. He was great, and is missed.

Ditto, would have been the greatest (some say) of all time if not for bad knees and alcoholism.

Geez, WDT way to pick a topic that's difficult for me. lol <did it on purpose, eh?> Okay, here goes. It was Thanksgiving Day in '61 and the men were in the living room watching the game, the women were in the kitchen cooking and talking about babies and stuff....I sneaked into the living room and there they were...Bart Starr and Vince Lombardi coming back and beating the Lions 17 - 9. I looked for a youtube of it but came up empty.
Also in my younger-than-I-am-todays, I thought Mark Gastineau was da bomb.
The New York Sack Exchange led to the Gastineau Rule. Great player but I'm very glad Brady didn't play against him.

I may have been watching that same game on TG'n as you! Pretty amazing if you think about it. I also remember following the Jets during the Klecko/Gas tag team days. I do however find it hard to believe your finest sports moment was a Packer/Lions thanksgiving day game.....lol. WOW! HA!
