Well, the Olympics are over, at least until four years from now.  The next Summer , Olympics will be in 2016 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.  I loved their invitation  presentation at the closing ceremonies yesterday, especially when I saw Pele, probably one of the best soccer players to ever play the game.

As for the rest of the ceremony, the music was awesome, featuring artists for both the young and old.  I caught myself singing along to the music of Pink Floyd and the Who.  Well Done London!

Now to some baseball.

My Blue Jays avoided the sweep against the New York Yankees by winning yesterday 10-7.  Speaking of the Yankees, they have signed veteran right-hander, Derek Lowe to a Major League contract.

Last night I watched the Atlanta/New York Mets game.  Mets won 6-5.

I got some very sad news, especially for Red Sox fans.  Johnny Pesky died today at the age of 92.  R. I. P.  Johnny.

Finally, Philadelphia have placed Nate Schierhatz on the 15-disabled list with a fractured big right toe and recalled infielder Hector Luna from Triple A.

The London closing ceremony was very good. It was great seeing Pele. The Spice Girls was good also. (I am surprised to admit it.) The best part of the closing ceremony was they played Queen. "We will, we wil, rock you!" I am excited already for Rio in 2016.

I found the closing ceremony confusing. Mainly because I didn't know who most of those people were. lol

Who is Jesse J and why was she the one singing the famous Queen song? I would have enjoyed watching The Who with everyone else but NBC cut from the ceremonies to show a teaser episode of Animal Practice and then cut to the local news. 50 minutes later we were watching The Who.

I guess NBC decided we in the States have too short an attention span to sit through uninterrupted closing ceremonies. Oh well, maybe ABC, CBS, or maybe FOX will carry the Rio games.

The London Olympics were probably the most fun to watch since L.A. 1984.

Wonder what the Beach Volleyball bikinis will look like in Rio?
