I'll be taking a 1000 mile (road trip) around the entire outside area of Wisconsin between 10 Sep and the 10th of Oct. I enjoy traveling during the cool days of late summer and early fall. No bugs, and less showering! Not to mention the problem(s) with the wild life even though I'm well armed, HA!
ANYWAAAAY, I got to thinking (yes, I can think half the time), if you could road trip to any sports event in the WORLD........where would you go? See the bull-sheet in Spain? Watch the TDF in France? The Grand Prix in Monaco? Or catch a Yankees game (Boston vs NYY) or two over a weekend in the Bronx. Perhaps you would enjoy attending the Olympics. Your choose ANYWHERE and ANYTIME.
Select your flavor, and of course, sell your story too!

I'm presently doing the online (Ancestry.com) thing after doing research on my families last name(s). Found out the name(s) originate from England and Scotland, but with a splash Ireland and Wales thrown in. I know on my mothers side her family came over as indentured servants (slave labor in peoples homes), but my fathers side has a relationship somehow with George Washington I'm trying to figure out. There's still a ton of work to do in the next 12 months, so I'll have to get back to you on that. I haven't found where they left England yet, or from what area they lived historically.

I had a chance to see my 2ND choice back in 1980 when I was stationed in West Germany. Instead of going to the Grand Prix of Monaco, I decided to go Switzerland with friends on a tour to the Lake Lacerne gambling casino and resort. Should have gone to the Grand Prix.....

I enjoy the Grand Prix much, much more than I do NASCAR. Wouldn't want to see it in person, but then that's me. lol
On a side note, the town I lived in before this one had a National Cycling Race go through it. It was on TV and we all lined up on the biking route, put up with closed off streets and waited and waited and waited. The bicyclists were going so fast it was a blur, the noise of their bikes was deafening, and in less than a minute they were gone. Not worth the hassle to see anything live anymore, imo.

LOL, me too! It was called the "Milk Races" or the "Lowenbrau" races here in Wisconsin. My brother (one of 3 older) is a somewhat well known racer in this state as an amateur. One of my brothers best friends moved from here to build custom bicycles in the New England area. I think it was in Vermont or Maine. I remember reading as a kid reading about the Wright Brothers being bicycle racers before they became aviators. So I got into then myself, but also because I had 2 older brothers interested in it themselves too. Thanx for the story kitty!

I never had a chance to see an Olympics, but I would love to see one some day. The closest I came was the Vancouver BC Winter games when I was living in the NW (Wash), but I was still in the Army, and not yet retired.
