As I was watching the Olympics this past July, and as well getting ready for the start of the NFL season, I saw many popular athletes names come across in the news or on T.V. Now, I'm a pretty big fan of sports, but one athlete comes to mind the most: Peyton Manning. He's had a phenomenal career, one super bowl ring and 4 MVP awards. But, his stats aren't what puts him ahead of the game, its his leadership and influence. If you have ever see Manning play, you'll wander, "what the heck is this guy saying," because he yells for 20 seconds before every play. But, his teammates seem to get it, and when they are interviewed always call him a leader and a great player. Now, everyone remember the neck injury last year, which put him out for season, but he didn't go up and sit in box seats and just watch the game, instead he coached the team and QB's in whatever way he could. He is also an influence on kids, that not all football players live the thug life and what hard work can get you.

Now, I ask you Fannation, what is your favorite athlete? If your a New Yorker is it Derek Jeter or Eli Manning?, the dominant Michael Phelps? The extravagant Usain Bolt, the playmaker Aaron Rodgers, or the amazing comebacks from Tim Tebow. Anyone in sports, whether they were great or not.

Phil Mickelson. Win or lose, Phil always has a wave and a smile for the gallery. Unlike others he seems to take everything in stride. No tantrums that I've ever seen, anyway.
Next, I'd say Andy Roddick. Always plays fair and seems grateful for each win. Same goes for Kim Clijsters.
Guess that's it for now....

Mickey Charles Mantle......He is the reason I fell in love with the Yankees 55 years ago as a 7 year old....He was in my opinion one of the most graceful and most powerful players to ever play the game.
