I can't stand wrestling anymore, but used to love it as a kid. I watched it religiously from the 1980's up until about 10 years ago when The Rock and Stone Cold left the business. The Rock has come back briefly this year but that isn't enough to make me watch it.
Back when I was a kid, I used to watch it all the time. I knew all the characters, tried to do all the moves and I even had a bunch of toy figures. I recently found 31 of them in a box and set out to buy the rest of the LJN line that I was missing. The figures are from the 1980's and are made by Titan. They are the "LJN Superstars" and I have all the figures in the line. I went on Ebay and Craigslist to buy all the ones I was missing. There are like 72 of them in total and I ended up buying big lots of them online in order to try and complete my set.

I bought so many of these dang things in the quest to complete my set, that I wound up with almost double of every figure. I have the complete set and then 66 more of the set. I'll end up throwing them on Ebay or something soon, as I obviously have no need for 2 complete sets. They're worth a fair bit of money, so hopefully I'll sell them and get some of the money back I spent completing my collection.
I used to play with these things all the time. I was into these figures more than I was Transformers, GI Joe or any other toy for boys. Only Matchbox cars or Tonka trucks could compare. The figures are from the "glory days" of wrestling IMO. Guys like Macho Man Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Andre the Giant, Ted Dibiase, Jake the Snake and Jimmy Snuka, just to name a few.
I know a lot of people don't consider wrestling a sport and neither do I. It's scripted and staged. That takes away the competition and the challenge, thus there is no sport. However, wrestlers ARE amazing athletes. They need great endurance, cardio, athleticism, strength, etc.... They train and train, honing and perfecting their craft. They do this all year round. They are impressive, even if I don't like it any more.

I feel yah. Wrestling's still good. you have to get to that "kiddie level".. Sting is hilarious for TNA, and Cena is what i call the 2012 thug Hulk Hogan.

Awesome collection. Love that era...So many classic hilarious "villains": The Million Dollar Man, Rick "The Model" Martel, Razor Ramon, Rowdy Roddy Piper, etc...
BTW, do you have an SD "Special Delivery" Jones figure in that collection? It must be priceless. Arguably the best jobber of all time... Mean Gene and Jesse the Body used to always talk him up as if the guy really stood a chance to get a win. Then the WWF randomly promoted him from the guy who always loses to Hulk Hogan's tag team partner for awhile.

And I completely agree with this statement. They're basically live actors and stuntmen.
That's why I loved watching the high-flying wrestlers. Guys like the Hardy Boyz. The matches may have been scripted, and the moves may have been practiced, but the jumps Jeff Hardy took off 20-foot ladders were 100% real. You can't fake gravity.
The same goes for the two infamous falls Mick Foley took off the top of the Hell in a Cell cage in 1998.
Not to mention the barbed wire matches they used to do in the original ECW. When fans watched Terry Funk and Sabu in their 1997 barbed wire match, that was real flesh loss and actual blood. There was nothing fake about the pain they inflicted on themselves.

Dude. I kid you not, they made TWO versions of him. I have him in a red cabana shirt and a yellow hawaiin shirt with palm trees on it.
They didn't make figures like Smash from Demolition (although they made Ax), but they made TWO of SD Jones! lol

Ya, I am fairly well versed in the line now. A loose Brutus Beefcake figure is worth about 3 bucks, but MOC (new unopened) is worth about 40 bucks.
There are some pretty rare and expensive ones though, even opened and used. Warrior goes for about 75, Warlord for $100, Big Bossman for about 60 and Haku for 75. They came out in "Series" and there are 6 series. 1-3 are very very common, with Series 6 being the most rare.

Those were some crazy times. I used to love the "original" high flyers like Macho Man and Jimmy Snuka. They didn't do anything that wild (Snuka did though), but at the time... it was pretty original.

When I was a kid wrestling was mainly smash and bash, guys like Chief Jay Strongbow, Gorgeous George....but when my kids were little and we 'rediscovered' wrestling, I was blown away by the athleticism. I swore up and down Shawn Michaels had some circus training, and couldn't believe it when The Undertaker started walking on the ring rope. Haven't seen a wrestling match in ages, don't know who the players are anymore, but you have one fine collection of figures to sell. Hope you get top dollar for it.

Haha. I had no idea that Barry O was Cowboy Bob Orton's brother until now.
Nevertheless, I'm still not convincede he ranks as high as Jewish superstar jobber Barry Horowitz or "Canada's Greatest Athlete" Iron Mike Sharpe and his black forearm brace that always contained a foreign object.
