With a very short time to prepare due to playing Monday night, the Raiders had a better game Friday (despite the loss). You wouldn't know it from the way the first string played. But the second and remaining lineups? Much better than Monday.
Carson played okay - 13 of 24 for 107 yards and an INT. More concerning for me were the passes that weren't caught. Either the receivers aren't running the right routes or Palmer isn't throwing it where it needs to be. There was a little disconnect going on between him and the first team receivers. He missed a couple of wide open passes to McFadden and TE Richard Gordon. And twice we had 1st and goal but ended up with field goals. Streater seemed to be the only guy he could find.
While we pretty much dominated the first half in nearly every aspect stat wise, we lost the turnover battle. Mike Goodson fumbled twice plus the INT by Palmer left us with 3 turnovers, so we were down 24-11. Arizona scored 10 off our mistakes. Not a great way to end the half.
Leinert
came in for the second and was playing really well. Got us down the
field and we scored our first touchdown of the 2012 season. But then
Leinart got clocked (no penalty called, but a fine is coming for sure)
and he left the game 5 of 8 for 66 yards. He is being looked at for
his finger on his right hand.
Pryor came in and you could tell he wasn't warmed up. He made some short passes - okay, he was 2 of 3 for 9 yards... But we ran a lot and didn't make much headway with him at the helm. They are going to have to work on the plays for Pryor.
Defense
looked good and the later string guys scored a defensive touchdown in
the 3rd quarter. DE Hall Davis had a fumble return for a TD late. The
DBs and LBs looked good some plays, bad others. DVD had a rough game.
Pretty much what's expected in preseason.
Overall,
I'm glad we put some points on the board and the team played a little
better - lots of new plays to absorb on both sides of the ball. But we
better hope that our offensive first string comes together with more
confidence. Our o-line looks pretty sketchy - guys need to get healthy
before the season starts.

Kat I did watch some of your game on my computer last night and I do agree with you that the Raiders look okay for the second preseason game. But they were playing the lowly Cards and it is preseason. What ever it is worth to you Kat I have your team going 10-6 this year and making the playoffs. Maybe there is a chance we could become friends talking west coast football and southern football.

Wish they would give TP a chance at playing with the first string.

That's quite a prediction, Toad! Would be fun if it came true.
Thanks for the comment - and good luck to your team.

It was weird because at times they looked really good and others it was like WTF? But it is preseason, so hopefully things will start to mesh.
Really worried about the injury to Ford though. Same damn foot as last year.

Maybe they will in the final pre-season game. Not sure if Leinart will miss this week or not with his finger, but it's on his non-throwing hand so I figure he'll play. But I agree that it's not a fair assessment of Pryor when playing with the 3rd string. The o-line is like swiss cheese.

I guess not. And apparently DVD doesn't get a pass for his struggles in his rookie year...

He needs blue-ray or just go straight to 3-D formatting IMO.

For a moment, it looks like 92 was riding Kolb from behind - not a good thing....
