Why did the Saints name Joe Vitt interim HC? He's suspended for the first six regular season games, meaning the Saints will actually start the 2012 season with an interim-interim HC, offensive line coach Aaron Kromer.
The Saints aren't goning to have any continuity in a HC position that was already in flux due to Sean Payton's season-long suspension. Promoting a guy facing a suspension of nearly half the season compounds an area that was already questionable. I just don't get the logic here.
Can anybody clue me in?

Isn't it just absurd? I hadn't been paying attention to Saints' news lately and forgot that Vitt was, as you wrote, to be "suspended for the first six...games." It would appear the Saints are still 'smarting' from the Bounty-gate fall-out and are thumbing-their-noses' at the NFL & Roger. If that's what it is (I could be missing something), I'd tell 'em: stop it and just move on already. It's a bit confusing at the very least and would hurt "continuity."
