Edwards Does America a Favor
Don't take this wrong. I'm commending John Edwards for a great political decision. He dropped from the race for a Democratic nomination for the General Election, strengthening his overall political position. Edwards leaving the race means a number things. Obviously, he won't be President. But more importantly, his departure leaves a sizable amount of voters without their candidate. If I was a betting man, I'd put anything on the fact that most of Edwards' supporters move to Barack Obama. A well timed decision, Edward's departure from the Presidential race puts Hillary in a bad position, and the Democrats and America are in better shape than ever for the General Election. I think this situation almost locks up the nomination for Obama. But besides putting a better option on the ballot, Edwards has secured himself a nice VP bid. Edwards and Obama always seemed to be on the same page, and Edwards' departure is a practical signal of his endorsement. I'm still a Ron Paul guy, but looking at the board, my outlook on the GE is much sunnier.
