There are various rumors that the Yankees are done, and that they are going to have to vie for a wildcard spot if they plan on making the playoffs.  I, being a Yankee fan, obvioulsy believe this is not true.  Seeing as it is only May and the Yankees still have 124 games to play, there is still great opportunity for the Yankees to pull ahead of the Red Sox regardless of what the Red Sox are doing right now.  Now I won't be one of the Yankee fans who says "well they've been plagued with injury," and I won't use this excuse for two reasons.  1.) Regardless of injuries everyone should still be playing their hardest and winning games, and the substitute pitching for the Yankees has been solid (i.e. Desalvo, Hughes before he was hurt, Chase Wright beforethe 4 straight homers).  The reason the Yankees have lost so often is due to either poor bats or poor, overworked bullpen and thats just a shame.  2.) They were dealing with injuries last year and look what happened.  They won their division.  What I will use as an excuse, because that's what it is, is that the Yankees play this way every year.  They start off poorly, then around the end of July and into August they explode.  They then take their hot streak into September, and then ultimately into October as the AL East Division Champs.  So, fear not Yankee fans because the Yankees will pull out of this soon.  Not to mention Roger Clemens and Phil Hughes will be back soon.  Just think, all the awesome minor league and rookie pitchers we have (i.e. Rasner, Desalvo, Hughes, Wright, Karstens, Sanchez) we may be looking at the AL East Division Title for a looong time, and hopefully a few World Series Titles along the way.  YANKEE PRIDE!!!
