THE POINT AFTER - RANKING THE TOP 10:
NFL 2012 - WEEK 2

1. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS - 49ers continue to show that they are indeed legit to make another strong run at post season play. The defense has now been able to slowdown 2 great offenses and Alex Smith demonstrated a little more leadership. The 49ers WRs left a few drop passes that should have been caught to continue drives and not end up with field goals. Grade A

2. HOUSTON TEXANS - I like what I see with this team, the Texans remind me of the 49ers except with a big play QB in Matt Schaub. The only reason why they don't take the number one spot is because they haven't really played any significant team(s) yet. The Texans are on a roll and their true test will be next week Sunday against the Broncos. Grade A

3. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS - The NFC West is turning out to becoming a force this season and the Patriots have become their next victim. A stunning win by the Cards, they played the Pats physically well and may have just put one of Tom Brady's favorite targets on the shelve for several weeks. Still the Pats had a chance to win the game with a field goal. Grade C

4. GREEN BAY PACKERS - The Pack defense is back! Well for at least against a familiar opponent. Rodgers had a decent game and the Packers running backs actually showed up. This Packers offense has still not hit their stride yet. Grade A

5. BALTIMORE RAVENS - Thye Ravens played a tough game against the Eagles, and it looks like the Referees may have cost Baltimore the victory. Grade C+

6. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES - Have to give Micheal Vick some credit for turning the Eagle's fortunes around. In the early part of the game, it felt like the Ravens were going to score enough points to escape with a rare win in Philadelphia. Vick showed some moxie and was able to run away from the Ravens defense to score the winning TD.  Grade B

7. ATLANTA FALCONS - The Falcons offense played good enough to take advantage of key Peyton Manning turnovers. Did this game show that the Falcons belong as an elite team or wasn't more the case that the Broncos gave Atlanta a cushion that they could not overcome? Either way a win is a win and PCH is a happy camper. Grade A

8. DENVER BRONCOS  - Even with the early turnovers the Denver Broncos were close to taking the "W" away from the Falcons. The defense played well against a supposedly top offense in the Atlanta Falcons and limited Matt Ryan to under 220 yards passing. Grade C

9. PITTSBURGH STEELERS  - The Steelers passing offense is starting to find their groove as they are relying more and more on the pass. The defense also contained Mark Sanchez, which isn't a big deal since Sanchez is not a top tier QB. Still a good win for the mne of Steel. Grade B+

10. DALLAS COWBOYS - Talk about not showing up! The Cowboys beat the defending SB Giants last week. Are the NFC West defenses really that fast and physical that in only 2 weeks NFC West teams have beaten the likes of the Packers, Cowboys and Patriots? Or was this another signature game where Tony Romo places his defense behind the eight ball early? Grade D
