The Stack is here on this Thursday and it's time to talk football, both NFL and college.  Week 3 of the NFL season kicks off tonight with the New York Giants visiting the Carolina Panthers.  More on that in a second.  We'll also take a look at some of the big college football matches this week so let's get right to it and see what made "the stack" for today, Thursday, September 20:

New York Giants @ Carolina Panthers 8:20 PM ET NFL Network

Two 1-1 teams will square off tonight in Charlotte as the Giants face the Panthers with both teams hoping to avoid 1-2.  The Giants will be short-handed though as injuries keep piling up.  Running back Ahmad Bradshaw, wide receivers Hakeem Nicks and Domenik Hixon,  offensive lineman David Diehl and defensive end Adewale Ojomo are all out for tonight's game.  The injuries to Hixon and Nicks are of most concern for the Giants.  That stretches their wide receiving corp very thin.  They've struggled to run the ball so far this year, but this could be rookie D.J. Wilson's chance to make ammends for his fumble in the season opener.  The Giants are a passing team and Eli Manning is going to have put the team on his shoulders to win this game.  Their defense has struggled through two weeks and now they have the tall task of stopping Panthers quarterback Cam Newton.  He was great last week against the Saints, but he might not have running back Jonathan Stewart.  That hurt them in week one.

Having said all of that, I expect a big game from Newton and the injuries the Giants have suffered cannot be ignored.  And they gave up 34 points to the Bucs last week.  I know Tampa Bay is improved, but 34 points?!  I see the Panthers having a lot of success against a thin Giants team.

Prediction: Panthers 34 Giants 24

College football's biggest games this weekend

Week 4 of the college football season is upon us and there are a few very intriguing matchups this weekend.  The results of these games will shake up the top ten.  Let's take a look at a few of them:

#15 Kansas State @ #6 Oklahoma 7:50 PM ET FOX

Oklahoma didn't look that good in their week one win against UTEP before destroying Florida A&M.  They've had two weeks to prepare for this game though and I'm just not sold on Kansas State yet.  I will be if they beat the Sooners who are always prone to a disappointing loss at some point in the season as of late.  I'll take Oklahoma.

#18 Michigan @ #11 Notre Dame 7:30 PM ET NBC

Is Notre Dame going to let the success of last week's upset win overlook a dangerous Michigan team?  I would hope not.  The key is to stop Denard Robinson.  If the Fighting Irish can contain Robinson, or at least slow him down, they will win.  I like Notre Dame to win this one.

#10 Clemson @ #4 Florida State 8:00 PM ET ABC

This is the game of the week.  College Gameday is going to be there.  Florida State is looking to prove that they are an elite team in college football while Clemson is trying to pull off the daunting task of just cracking the Seminoles defense and find the endzone.  Florida State has given up what 3 points this year?  Three games, three points.  That equates to....wait for it....let me do the math....one point per game.  I would love to pick Clemson in this game because they have some playmakers on offense.  But this is quarterback E.J. Manuel's time to shine and I think FSU's defense will be too much and they'll pull away.  I think Clemson has a shot at an upset and it won't shock me if they win, but FSU knows how important this game is for their hopes at a national championship.  I'll take Florida State.
