Last night really sent a message to anyone who takes an interest in football. This was, in no way questionable the biggest mistake made by a ref. Now you have probably know what happened, but did you also know that was in fact a penalty on Seattle? Offensive pass interference, he clearly pushed Woodson making it a penatly and a interception. Though, the reciever did get a hand on it, Woodson clearly had possession, it was up against his chest as he was falling to the floor. But enough about that, especially because you could go to any sport website and find out what happened. Anyways, the effect the refs have had on the game haven't had been a great toll until last night, but there have been countless mistakes, resulting in feild goals or touchdowns; and many calls that coaches have had to use their challenges on, because the refs just didn't see it. They are changing the game, and also slowing it down. Twitter went crazy after the game, Clay Mattews even tweeted Roger Goodell's number to try and get back at him; may have deleted it, but when you called it said " you have reached the office of the NFL commishner" Currently the Refs want four things: a higher pay (obviously), a retirement plan, more reserve crews, and for it to be a full time job. Yes, refs are part time, and they're getting a good deal, over a 100,000 a year and front row seats to the game. The middle two are reasonable, but a higher pay? Your working one day a week for only 8 months of the year. Although, they have to look at film, its still maybe a 15 hour commitment. Overall, Roger Goodell has to make good with the refs, they are making a huge impact on the game and are making it less entertaining to watch. What happened last night, put a smile on the refs face, the NFL now has pressure from players and fans to get the old refs back. Lastly, why is everyone who is a part of sports starting lockouts? Money of course, they all need to realize how lucky and rich they already are. At this rate, waterboys are going to holdout in the next couple of years. And everyone makes mistakes, just at certain times the right call has to be made.
