DOVER Oh, yes. The cream is rising to the top in NASCAR's Chase. Yet another good event. The Monster Mile offering it's usual heavy challenge. Cautions put many a competitor down a lap or two and most were unable to recover, but that's racing. Brad in the "Blue Duce" really showed the way at the end. Some say he was 'lucky' - and, what if he was? Winning is winning. IMO, this guy has an honest shot at the title. Hamlin is still Hamlin - the thing he has going for him is Darin Grub, who, might be able to make the difference. Everyone seems to be asking the same question: "Why in the world did Stewart let Grub go?" Just a wild guess - maybe Tony said he was going to make Grub Crew Chief on the Patrick car and Darin said, "No way." Please - just food for thought. I have no inside info. Here's my take (biased indeed): Hamlin is incapable of winning the championship on his own. If he does make it to the top it will because of Darin Grub. Period. Kendrick, perhaps the best modern-day owner, put his entire team in the Chase. Some want to belittle them for that, say they have an unfair advantage - a liberals view for sure. The Hendrick team, each and every driver, every team member, every employee, earned their way into the Chase. Nothing was given to them. Live with it.
