Heaven forbid. @sn_nascar (Twitter) would like "marginal' race fans believe that cautions and wrecks is what make for a good race. Can you get lamer than that? Please. What world are you living in? Hello. NASCAR isn't Hockey where they have to contrive fighting events to make it exciting. Cautions and wrecks more times than not 'spoil' the race - they don't make it. Proof: The wreck and caution at Dover put a bunch of challenging cars down a lap or two. That makes for a great race? Not in my book. Sorry @sn_nascar you can't try to 'pull' my leg and get away with it. And, like they say: NASCAR is not a game.

You are right that the media is trying to make it sound like wrecks and cautions are the only way to make a race interesting. But that is because they media has overhyped NASCAR through the years, especially in the 90's. And let's face it NASCAR isn't help either. The cars are nothing more than IROC or F1 type cars where no one can pass on their own. The rules are so restrictive that "innovation" is out the window for "parity".

Here lately, in my opinion, the racing has just stunk. It's all follow the leader and the only time it gets exciting is in the Truck series where it seems like those guys run more like they have nothing to loose. Granted I haven't been at the track in some time, but what is shown on TV is pretty much the leaders and the big name drivers, and heaven help us if they are one in the same. I have seen plenty of times where a wide shot of the leader shows three wide racing behind him, except no one talks about that, they (the booth personalities) act like nothing is happening. Stuff like that has dug the media into a hole I am not sure they can talk their way out of.

I appreciate your "welcome" to FanNation and your comment. The only (I almost always have comments) comment I feel necessary is your comparison of IROC and F1 to NASCAR. IROC, IMO, in it's early days was fantastic. Formula 1 Champions racing against numerous American Champions from varied series' in Porsche's, on road courses and such. For me, that was extremely cool.

And for F1? It takes a level of skill and huge 'balls' to make a serious pass in F1. You don't get anything close to that in NASCAR, IndyCar etc., - Well, you do on the 'bull ring' dirt tracks in Sprint type cars. Innovation is what Formula One is about and the rules provide some level of parity - which in some ways is good. The level of engineering concepts in F1 is stunning.
