Day 19 of the NHL lockout and the league has cancelled the first two weeks of the regular season.
My Blue Jays finished their season with a bang last night by beating the Twins 2-1 and swept the series. Omar Vizquel reached another milestone by landing the 40th spot on the all-time hit list. He left the game with a standing ovation, since it maybe his last Major League ballgame.
Now on to more good baseball stuff.
Here is a breakdown of division winners and wild card teams.
American League
East - New York Yankees
Central - Detroit
West - Oakland
Wild cards - Baltimore and Texas
National League
East - Washington
Central - Cincinnati
West - San Francisco
Wild cards - St. Louis and Atlanta
A huge milestone was made by a Detroit Tiger player last night. Miguel Cabrera won the Triple Crown with a .330 batting average, 44 home runs, and 139 RBIs. It was the first time the Triple Crown has been won since Carl Yastrzemski did it in 1967. Congratulations Miguel!
I got a few dismissals to pass along.
Boston has dismissed manger, Bobby Valentine. No surprise there, considering how bad the Red Sox played this year.
Seattle dismissed their hitting coach Chris Chambliss and Kansas City dismissed their hitting coach Kevin Seitzer.
Finally, Ryan Moore leads the Shriner's Open by one stroke (-10) after one round.
