When the season began, many said that Tom Coughlin would be gone after the season and the Giants wouldnt even be in the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Patriots were projected to make the playoffs and many said that they would win the super bowl. During the season, the Patriots went undefeated with Tom Brady's 50 TDs and Randy Moss's 23 TDs and some key players like Wes Welker, Mike Vrabel, Asante Samuel, Rodney Harrison, and Lawerence Maroney to name a few. The Giants meanwhile went 10-6 with a wild card spot lead by players like Eli Manning, Plaxico Burress, Michael Strahan, Osi Uminyora, and Brandon Jacobs. No one had picked the Giants to go anywhere in the playoffs. These two faced off against each other in the last game, with the Patriots winning, 38-35. No one had picked the Giants to go anywhere in the playoffs. They defeated Tampa Bay in the first round and then shocked Dallas in the second round. They traveled to Green Bay on a very cold day and once again shocked another team, beating the Packers in ot. They were now in the super bowl. Meanwhile, the Patriots rolled past Jacksonville and San Diego, but there was signs that the Pats were vulnerble. The Giants and the Patriots were in the super bowl. Once again, no one gave the Giants a chance.

Then came game time for the two teams. The Giants won the toss and elected to recieve. They drove into Patriots territory and stalled, kicking a field goal. Brady then led the Pats down the field and Lawernce Maroney scored a TD putting the Pats on top, 7-3. Manning led the Giants down the field but was picked off by Ellis Hobbs off a tipped ball by the reciever. The Pats punted and the Giants got the ball. On 2nd down, Manning fumbled and it looked like Pierre Woods landed on it. Somehow, Ahmad Bradshaw got the ball, but the Giants punted. After trading possesions, Brady drove the Pats down the field but fumbled and Uminyora pounced on the ball. A Manning hail mary went far and it was 7-3 Pats at half. New England got the ball and drove down the field to the Giants 31. Belicheck decided to go for it on fourth and 13 instead of kicking a 49 yard field goal. On fourth down, Brady threw an incomplete pass and the Giants got the ball. Trading possesions once again, the Giants got the ball to start the 4th Quarter. On the first play of the 4th quarter, Manning hit Kevin Boss for 45 yards. The Giants continued to drive down to Pats territory and got to the 5. Then Manning hit David Tyree for a TD. After trading possesions again, the Pats got the ball back. Brady led them down the field and found Randy Moss for a TD. But once again, the Pats left some time for Manning and the Giants. Driving to midfield, it was third and 5. A blitz by New England looked like it wrapped up Manning. Manning escaped 3 Patriots and threw it to Tyree who made a spectacular catch. New York drove to the 13 yard line of the Patriots. Manning then found a wide open Plaxico Burress who only made one previous catch. It was 17-14 Giants. Brady and the Pats got the ball back, but on 2nd down Brady was sacked by Jay Alford. Two deep pass attemps would fail and New York beat the previously undefeated Pats.

The game was over. New York had upset one of the best teams in NFL history. Bill Belicheck acted like a baby and left the field with 1 second left in disgust. Tom Coughlin was probably one of the most hated guys in New York and everyone wanted him fired. To answer the critics, Coughlin led his team to a great victory. Its a great win for the veterans like Strahan and Toomer, who deserve a ring for their careers. In conclusion, a great and well deserving win for New York.
