Russell Wilson, I apologise. I picked against you and your Seattle Seahawks and I shouldn't have. I should have had more faith. On the weekend that Drew Brees broke the big record, I should have put my money on all the so-called undersized quarterbacks taking the field in the NFL.
Yes, I got the Seattle-Carolina game wrong. It was one of four picks I blew and I dropped three places in my football pool as a result. I'm not a happy camper.
I also picked Green Bay to beat Indianapolis. I completely missed the emotional impact of the coach's illness on the Colts in this one. I doubt many others got this game right, though: only one out of 68 players in my pool picked Indy.
Washington let me down against Atlanta. Maybe, if RGIII doesn't get hurt, my pick turns out to be a good one here. But I keep waiting for the Falcons to falter, to rest a little on their laurels, and I keep getting it wrong. Maybe I'll have to show more faith in Atlanta's strong (5-0 so far) start.
And what was I thinking in taking the Jags over Chicago? I was really high on the Bears at the start of the season but got caught up in the misery of one bad outing. I have to learn from this mistake: the Bears have a heck of a defensive club and they're not so bad on offense, either... when Cutler is on his game.
Oh well. I knew I couldn't maintain my sixth-place ranking all season. But a second week at that lofty height would have been nice. At least I'm still in the top ten!
