What a disaster! I went 8-6 picking Week 6 in the NFL and I was lucky to do that well. If Buffalo hadn't manage to pull one out in overtime and Atlanta and Seattle to come back in the end, my week would have been much much worse.

Yes, I'm proud of the Buffalo and Seattle picks. I don' t think a lot of people saw the Bills handling Arizona that way (though LoveItHateIt did!) and my guess is that most people thought the Patriots would handle the 'Hawks. So I'm good with those two.

But the rest? Yikes.

Even worse than getting six games wrong (including the Monday Night and Sunday Night games) was the fact that four of my five top picks, the picks I bet the most points on in my pool, came out wrong. Only the Falcons, who barely came back to beat Oakland, brought me double digit points on the week; all of my other correct picks were for much lower scores in the pool.

Amazingly enough, however, I have maintained top spot in the office section of the pool, despite the rough week, and I expect my 56 points (out of a possible 105) to be good enough to keep me in the top 15 overall in the 68 player pool. That doesn't say much for the quality of the competition, does it?

My most frustrating incorrect picks involved the Bengals-Browns game and the Philly loss to Detroit. I have been saying all year that I expected Cleveland to win one after playing pretty well week in and week out and yet I missed Cincy's vulnerability in this game. And what can I say about the Eagles. Huge disappointment, all season long. And now they've apparently fired their defensive coordinator, a desperation move if I've ever seen one.

You fared better than I did. Though I gained a little ground with Buffalo, I only had 6 right. Ugh, what a nasty week!

In looking at the coming week's games, it will be another tough week of picks. Good luck.

I think this coming week should be a little bit easier - not much but a little bit. And, by way of update, despite the fact that I went only 8-6 and blew my 10-, 11-, 12- and 13-point picks, I still moved up in the overall pool from 9th to 4th place! Seems everybody else did as poorly as I did!
