It's Friday and The Stack is here to make some week seven NFL picks. Week seven? Already?! That's right. Through six weeks we've been decent...56-35. Off to a good start this week with San Francisco's 13-6 win over Seattle though it was kind of a boring game. The defenses were very good, but Jim Harbaugh's decision not to take the safety cost a lot of people money not that he cares about that. Could have been 15-6. Spread was 7.5. 49ers win gives them first place (perhaps temporarily) in the NFC West. Now let's get right to some picks and predictions in "the stack" for today, Friday, October, 19:
Tennessee Titans @ Buffalo Bills 1:00 PM ET CBS
The Titans had a nice win against the Steelers last week and Matt Hasselbeck definitely gives them a chance to win. The Bills are hoping that the win in Arizona last week can springboard them into some more wins. Don't know about down the line, but I think they can get one this week.
Prediction: Bills 27 Titans 22
Dallas Cowboys @ Carolina Panthers 1:00 PM ET FOX
If you're a Cowboys fan, aren't you wondering how the Boys will find a way to lose this week? You almost expect it. They find new ways to win all of the time. If Cam Newton and the Panthers were playing better, I'd the Cowboys would lose, but given Newton's struggles and how the Panthers have looked so far this year, the Cowboys would really have to botch something up to lose this game. Having said that, it wouldn't shock me if the Panthers pull out a way to win.
Prediction: Cowboys 27 Panthers 20
Baltimore Ravens @ Houston Texans 1:00 PM ET CBS
Guess who is making a surprising and triumphant return? Terrell Suggs is expecting to make his season debut from the torn Achilles he suffered in the offseason. That's a boost to the Ravens defense which hasn't looked good this year and is suffering some major injuries. But they're playing a Texans team that is good all across the board despite what the Packers did to them last week. They're mad and they'll be ready for this game. Bigger question...why is this not the late afternoon game? Patriots-Jets...no thanks!
Prediction: Texans 31 Ravens 23
Cleveland Browns @ Indianapolis Colts 1:00 PM ET CBS
I'm really tempted to pick the Browns this week to get a win for new owner Jimmy Haslam. They played really well last week. The Colts did not. Back home, they'll be ready. This game is a toss-up, plain and simple.
Prediction: Colts 17 Browns 13
Arizona Cardinals @ Minnesota Vikings 1:00 PM ET FOX
Did the real Vikings show themselves last week against the Redskins? It wasn't the best of games by the Vikings. The Cardinals are starting to show who they really are. No running game, quarterback carousel, it's starting to go downhill. Kevin Kolb won't play because of some detached ribs. Ouch! John Skelton gets his chance to prove he should remain the starter. After this game, Cardinals fans will begging for Kolb.
Prediction: Vikings 27 Cardinals 13
Washington Redskins @ New York Giants 1:00 PM ET FOX
What will RGIII do for an encore against the Giants after he literally ran past the Vikings? He'll have a good game, but the Giants are ready. Assuming they aren't full of themselves following their big win against San Francisco, Eli Manning and company will have a good game and the defense will contain RGIII. Perhaps a late drive by Manning will win it.
Prediction: Giants 30 Redskins 24
Green Bay Packers @ St. Louis Rams 1:00 PM ET FOX
Is the Pack back? Looks like it after last week's win at Houston. The Rams defense will be make things difficult, but their offense won't be able to keep up regardless of how many injuries the Packers have on defense.
Prediction: Packers 29 Rams 13
New Orleans Saints @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1:00 PM ET FOX
Will Jonathan Vilma play this week? He wants to. Fighting his suspension, he wants to play while he has the chance. But is he in football shape? The Saints could use him on defense, because their defense stinks. Their offense is good though and they're a better team than Tampa Bay.
Prediction: Saints 34 Bucs 20
New York Jets @ New England Patriots 4:25 PM ET CBS
How many people really think the Jets success last week will continue this week on the road against the Patriots who are coming off of a loss? Yeah, I didn't think that many either.
Prediction: Patriots 31 Jets 14
Oakland Raiders @ Jacksonville Jagaurs 4:25 PM ET CBS
The Raiders were oh so close to beating the Falcons on the road last week. At home against one of the two worst teams in the NFL (Raiders are close behind), the Raiders will roll in this one.
Prediction: Raiders 27 Jaguars 10
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals 8:20 PM ET
Both teams have struggled so far this year and each team is coming off of a loss to a team less superior to them. The Steelers defense has looked old this year and they have had zero running game. The Bengals started out the year decent, but two straight losses to the Dolphins and Browns have left them in a state of flux. Seriously, this is a toss up as far as I'm concerned. Right now, I'm leaning towards...
Prediction: Steelers 23 Bengals 20

It's been a wacky year for picking winners, so can't argue your picks, although I think you are being generous with some of your scoring!

I don't think the Pats are worried about Tebow, we crushed him when he was the starter in Denver, just keep him covered whenever he's on the field....
