I've been watching TNT and ESPN at nights lately for what has supposedly been the NBA Playoffs, but it appears to be more like World Cup Soccer. I can't help but notice Robert Horry's comments on Steve Nash's flop, but the problem is Nash isn't the only one flopping around on the ground. I've seen it in every game I've watched and it is becoming quite frustrating. Some of these guys are spending more time on the floor than they are on their feet trying to play defense.
For example, take Tuesday Night for instance when the Bulls played the Pistons. I can think of atleast 3 times when I was yelling "Get off the Floor" at Kurt Hinrich who thought it was better to roll around on the ground and draw some ticky tack fall that never got called. Another flop was during the Jazz vs. Golden State Game in which Andrei Kirilenko looked like he'd been shot out of a cannon while he was being boxed out after a free throw, although this one actually drew a foul it was still an acting job.
Its really becoming quite ridiculous that these guys are just flopping around on the ground and no longer trying to play defense or get good position for a rebound. Wait, actually that means they aren't even playing basketball. Now, I know the art of the flop was perfected by such greats as Dennis Rodman and Vlade Divac, but come on some of these guys need to play the game on their feet.
Anyway, I just think the NBA Playoffs have looked more like the World Cup of Soccer with everyone constantly hitting the ground if they get so much as breathed on. Maybe the NBA should do away with the antiquated rules that got Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw booted for Game 5 and bring in a no flop rule much like Soccer has inacted.
Quote of the Day:
"As you know the great acting skills Steve has when he hit the floor, he flopped and was, 'Oh, I'm dying over here,'"
