Day 45 of the NHL lockout. NHLPA Executive Director, Donald Fehr blames the league for the stalled negotiations. No argument here. After all, the league decline a request for a meeting by the players last week. It seems to me the league isn't too anxious to end this thing.
I got some baseball notes to pass along.
My Blue Jays have lost another member of their coaching staff today. Third base coach, Brian Butterfield will join former Jay's manager, John Farrell in Boston.
The Detroit Tigers were also. busy today. First, they signed manager, Jim Leyland to a one-year contract extension. The club then picked up option years for Octavio Dotel and Jhonny Peralta.
One team that didn't pick up any players options were the Los Angeles Dodgers. The club declined options for three of their players. They were:Todd Coffey, Juan Rivera, and Matt Treanor.
