There maybe no hockey news to pass along, but there is a heck of a lot of baseball stuff.
The Kansas city Royals have been busy lately. They've acquired Ervin Santana from the Los Angeles Angels, but the club declined to exercise their option on closer, Joakin Soria's $8 million contract for 2013.
The New York Yankee's Rafael Soriano has opted out his final year of his contract with the club.
Chicago White Sox re-signed Jake Peavy to a two-year contract.
Baltimore has declined the $11 million option for Mark Reynalds and picked up Luis Ayala's option for 2013.
Cleveland has also been busy. They picked up Ubaldo Jimenez club option for 2013, but declined Travis Hafner's and Roberto Hernandez's club options.
The New York Mets have picked up options for David Wright and R. A. Dickey.
Ryan Ludwick has declined his end of a $3 million mutual option for 2013.
Atlanta has exercised options for Brian McCann, Tim Hudson, and Paul Maholm.
Finally, the Pittsburgh Pirates have hired former player, Jay Bell, as their hitting coach.
