Day 47 of the NHL lockout and nothing new to report.
I got a couple of sad notes involving baseball. Former Major League pitcher, Pascal Perez was killed during a robbery at his home in the Dominican Republic. He was 55. Also, St. Louis Cardinal's longtime organist, Ernie Hays passed away yesterday. He was 77. R.I.P.
Miami has named Mike Redmond as their new manager.
Don Zimmer will be back with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2013, serving as Senior Baseball Advisor. This will be Zimmer`s 65th year in Major League baseball.
Washington`s Adam LaRoche and Sean Burnett have declined mutual options and have become free agents.
San Francisco have declined to exercise Aubrey Huff`s 2013 option on his contract.
Atlanta have claimed Jordan Schafer off waivers.
Texas have claimed Konrad Schmidt off waivers.
I also watched some NBA action last night. Indiana beat Toronto in the dying seconds 90-88. Top scorer for the Pacers was David West with 25 pts and top scorer for the Raptors was Kyle Lowry with 21 pts.
Finally, Adam Scott and Louis Oothuizen are tied (-7) at the WGC-HSBC Championship after one round.
