It's Friday and that means it's time to pick some NFL games. Week 9 has officially begun and The Stack is 1-0 just like most every other person picking NFL games following the San Diego Chargers 31-13 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chargers played some inspired football. Two defensive touchdowns. Only two incompletions for Philip Rivers who looked really good. The Chiefs are a joke at this point. Plain and simple. So 1-0 to start the week, let's see if we can imrpove on that and pick some games in "the stack" for today, Friday, November 2:
Denver Broncos @ Cincinnati Bengals 1:00 PM ET CBS
Peyton Manning and the Broncos are really starting to hit their stride. A sore thumb won't affect Manning and the Broncos offense from having success against an under-achieving Bengals defense.
Prediction: Broncos 27 Bengals 14
Baltimore Ravens @ Cleveland Browns 1:00 PM ET CBS
I smell the makings of an upset here. The Browns have been very competitive this year and the Ravens defense hasn't exactly been the greatest. But they've had two weeks to make adjustments and I think they make just enough adjustments to win this game.
Prediction: Ravens 23 Browns 20
Arizona Cardinals @ Green Bay Packers 1:00 PM ET FOX
The Cardinals defense might be able to slow down Aaron Rodgers and company a little bit, but with no quarterback or offensive line of their own, they can't keep up.
Prediction: Packers 24 Cardinals 10
Buffalo Bills @ Houston Texans 1:00 PM ET CBS
Mario Williams faces his former team whom he says forced him out of Houston. Maybe it's because they knew something and that is that they didn't need him and Buffalo's finding out he's not worth $100 million.
Prediction: Texans 34 Bills 17
Miami Dolphins @ Indianapolis Colts 1:00 PM ET CBS
Never thought this matchup would feature two 4-3 teams. Rookie quarterbacks Ryan Tannehill and Andrew Luck have really been something. Close game, but I like the home team in part because of their pair of defensive ends who will force Tannehill into a critical mistake late.
Prediction: Colts 20 Dolphins 16
Detroit Lions @ Jacksonville Jaguars 1:00 PM ET FOX
I feel as though this is a trap game for the Lions even though it shouldn't be. Their offense should be able to move it up and down the field at will against the Jaguars. But the Lions aren't the same team from a year ago and therefore it won't shock me if they go down.
Prediction: Lions 30 Jaguars 13
Chicago Bears @ Tennessee Titans 1:00 PM ET FOX
Speaking of trap games, the Bears may be facing one this week. Matt Hasselbeck surely will have the Titans ready, but how successful do we really think Chris Johnson will be against that Bears defense. Bigger question may be how many touchdowns the defense scores Sunday.
Prediction: Bears 30 Titans 16
Carolina Panthers @ Washington Redskins 1:00 PM ET FOX
Battle of two electrifying young quarterbacks, Cam Newton and RGIII. Newton and the Panthers have struggled mightily this year. RGIII is having just as, if not a betters season than Cam's rookie year a year ago. That will continue Sunday.
Prediction: Redskins 30 Panthers 24
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Oakland Raiders 4:05 PM ET FOX
Aargh! A battle of thee pirates. Me Buccos have been looking awfully good lately on offense, but playing in the black hole spells doom for me mates. Whichever team loses, they be walking da plank. I don't know why, but I think the Raiders can win and sink the Bucs ship.
Prediction: Raiders 26 Buccaneers 24
Minnesota Vikings @ Seattle Seahawks 4:05 PM ET FOX
Two teams who have really exceed expectations to this point in the season meet at the loudest stadium in the NFL. The Vikings were embarrassed last week at home on national television and I expect them to play much better this week. It will not shock me if they win this game. Having said that...
Prediction: Seahawks 24 Vikings 17
Pittsburgh Steelers @ New York Giants 4:25 PM ET CBS
The Steelers have to fly to New York on Sunday because the team can't find any hotel rooms available. Given all that has happened to New York and the surrounding area, the Giants come out and play inspired against a team that may be experiencing a little jet lag.
Prediction: Giants 27 Steelers 17
Dallas Cowboys @ Atlanta Falcons 8:20 PM ET NBC
Dallas suffered a heartbreaking loss last week to the New York Giants. It just seems like they find ways creative ways to lose way more often than they do ways to win. The Falcons are the lone undefeated team in the NFL and they better be ready for this one, because the Cowboys will be coming in here a little mad after last week. But, I don't think I can go against Matt Ryan in front of what should be a loud crowd at the Georgia Dome.
Prediction: Falcons 27 Cowboys 20
