Day 48 of the NHL lockout. As expected, the 2013 Winter Classic that was going to be held in Michigan was canceled today. The NHL is going to pay a hefty price with their pocket books for cancelling this event. Do I feel sorry for them? Nope.
There are, however, a couple of hockey games available to me on t.v. this weekend. Tonight, there is an OHL game and tomorrow night there is an AHL game between the Rochester Americans and the Hamilton Bulldogs.
Some baseball to pass along.
The Texas Rangers have made a $13.3 million qualifying offer to Josh Hamilton, but has declined to offer a contract to Mike Napoli.
The Chicago White Sox have been busy. First, they traded Ken Williams Jr. to Colorado for first baseman/outfielder, Mark Tracy. Then the club promoted Buddy Bell to vice president/assistant general manager.
Pittsburgh has signed third baseman Johan Herrera.
The Chicago Cubs have claimed Zach Putnan off waivers.
I watched some NBA action between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs last night. The Spurs won it at the buzzer 86-84. Top scorer for the Thunder was Kevin Durant with 23 pts and for the Spurs it was Tim Duncan with 20 pts.
Finally, Louis Oosthuizen leads the WGC-HSBC Champions by five strokes (-16) after two rounds.

Seems to me the whole NHL season should just be canceled. The only real winner here is the AHL. I know the Springfield Falcons have never had this great a start. Might even win the Calder Cup if things continue this way.

If this lock-out doesn't kill the hockey fan.. then nothing will.. but if they want to keep the fans.. lower ticket prices are a must

I cannot believe that this is taking so long....one can understand "games" if there is an obvious win for the "gamers.......but this is just hurting the sport itself.......how can that ever be good ?
