Juan Pablo Montoya finally gets what he needs, A GOOD ENGINE. It has been reported that Earnhardt-Ganassi racing will be using Hendrick Motorsports engines in the 2013 season.

The last two year has been a struggle for the No. 42 team who along with the No. 1 car of Jamie McMurray have been running in the back half of the 43 car field.

Chip Ganassi had mentioned in an interview that he needed more horsepower but made no mention that he would look for it outside the Earnhardt-Childress engine shop.

The news surprised Juan Pablo Montoya's fans, including myself. This may put this team in a position to compete in every race. The other -Hendrick engine wearing- teams like Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman have enjoyed great finishes and a championship the last few years.

This engine should at least get the EGR teams to consistently run in the teens and of course a good driver and crew chief should get this cars to a top ten.

Juan Pablo fans should be thrilled with this news, it is time for Juan Pablo to once again take his place as one of the elite drivers in the world.

As Bogart said in the movie Casablanca "Here's looking at you, kid" JPM fans love to watch him drive, we all hope he does not disappoint his half million plus twitter followers.

Enough said.

I don't event think words can describe how thrilled I was at this news today. I really didn't see it coming but looking back, maybe I did. How do you keep Target as a sponsor? Gotta perform.

It is great news..I've been reading in blogs that they might be looking but I thought they would a change to Ford not another Chevy engine, but of course is a Hendrick engine so that makes a hell of a difference..2013 will be interesting, new cars , new engines .... I can't wait...

There must be some tension between Chip & Rick LOL
I don't blame Ganassi for looking for better engines.........even RCR drivers are not performing as well as they usually do.....Harvick made the Chase but all he's doing is fiddling around since then......maybe RCR should go Hendrick engines too.

Alot of the problem is not the engines.. its the driver.. back in August JPM grabbed poles in back to back weeks at Pocono and Watkins Glen.. he led 1 lap at the Glen and finished 33rd.. at Pocono he led 7 and finished 20th.. JPM usually qualifies mid pack.. and thats where he usually finishes.. since June 3rd.. the last 21 races JPM has run.. ONLY 1 top 10 finish.. at Michigan( 8th)

Wildfan...you're right about JPM.....he will probably have better finishes in Hendricks engines.......but only slightly better....engines only fix some of the problems.

And so has 80% of Earnhardt-Childress engines..

Looks like more than Montoya and Mcmurray will be switching to HMS power....... Harvick will be also....via moving over to SHR in 2014.

RCR getting his Dillons in Cup is starting to cost an awful lot.
