Day 50 of the NHL lockout. CTV.ca is reporting that yesterday's labour talks between the league and the players covered a lot of ground. Again, don't get too exited. I have a bad feeling that Commissioner, Gary Bettman will hold a press conference, saying the same thing. "We (the owners and the players) are not speaking the same language," which I am getting tired of hearing.
Meanwhile, there was AHL hockey to watch last night. The Hamilton Bulldogs came from a 2-0 deficit to beat the Rochester Americans 4-3. Brian Flynn scored two goals for the Americans and Blake Geoffrion also scored two goals for the Bulldogs.
Yesterday afternoon, I watched an exiting football game in OUA semi-final action between Guelph and Queens. Guelph won in overtime with a touchdown 42-39.
In the other semi-final, McMaster continues to be undefeated by beating Western 42-28.
Both Guelph and McMaster will square off in the Yates Cup.
I have a couple of baseball notes to pass along.
Oakland has re-signed Bartolo Colon to a one-year contract.
Miami has signed third baseman, Kevin Kouzmanoff to a Minor League contract.
Finally, Ian Poulter won the WGC-HSBC Champions by two strokes (-21).
