Day 56 of the NHL lockout.  Once again, labour talks broke off abruptly last night.  Some are saying the negotiations between the two sides are getting nasty.  The only positive news is that Commissioner, Gary Bettman said in a press conference that the league is waiting to see if and when the players want to meet with them again.  That is a sharp contrast from a few weeks ago when the owners refused to meet with the players as requested.

Meanwhile, there were a couple of hockey games yesterday.  Team Canada lost to Germany 3-2 at the Deuschland Cup.

Halifax beat Gatineau last night 5-1.

Now to some baseball.

Yadier Molina has won the Platinum Glove Award.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have bought the rights to Korean pitcher, Hyun-Jin Ryu for a price of $25.75 million.

Boston have signed catcher, David Ross to a two-year, $6.2 million contract.

Hiroki Kuroda, Rafael Soriano, and Nick Swisher have rejected qualifying offers from the New York Yankees.

B. J. Upton has rejected a one-year qualifying offer from the Tampa Bay Rays.

Finally, Charlie Beljan is leading the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic by one stroke (-13) after 12 holes in the third round.
