My weekend of upsets has left me more upset than anyone else. I was certain that the NFL would be rife with surprise results in Week 12 and I made my pool picks based on that assumption.
Well, you all know the old saying about what happens when you assume: you make an ASSume of U and ME.
And boy do I feel like an Assume.
Thanks to my egregious 4 and 12 record this week, I plummeted all the way down to 49th place in my 68 player pool. And to think I was in fourth overall just over a month ago!
Usually in this post I talk about where I went wrong. This week, that would make the entry about 50,000 words long. So let's talk about where I went right.
I bought gas before the price went up on the weekend. Score!
I ordered the Mac'n'Cheese at The Garrison District Ale House on Friday night. Yum!
That's about all I did right this weekend.
The four NFL games I picked right were:
Washington over Dallas (have I mentioned I think Tony Romo is soft?);
Indy to beat Buffalo (you know it's a bad week when you pick against your favourite team and it's about the only game you get right);
Denver over Kansas City (did ANYBODY pick the Chiefs?); and
Cincy over the Raiders (sorry LIHI, the Raiders are just awful this year).
Two of my upsets almost... almost came to pass. Detroit had Houston on the ropes and then gave the game away and Tampa should have beaten Atlanta.
And I have to feel for Russell Wilson in Seattle. The guy goes out and completes more than 75% of his passes, for a respectable 224 yards and two TDs, no INTs, and still loses the ballgame to the Dolphins. How does the Seahawk defense give up 17 points in the fourth quarter?
Next week's picks will be much better, I promise. Then again, they aren't called the "World's Worst Football Picks" for nothing!

Dang - that was quite a drop :-( Going to be hard to recover from that. Hopefully the points between where you were and where you ended up are not unattainable with 5 weeks remaining.
I went 9-7 with my picks. Picked 5 upsets and only two panned out. I might have to start trusting Vegas.
