After suffering a 31 pt loss at Ohio State in their first meeting this year, Iowa's outlook for their second match up with the Buckeyes looked dismal.

But the Hawks were able to do the one thing they must, to stay in games this year: control tempo. When Iowa holds opponents under 50 pts they are 9-0. When they don't? Let's not discuss that now.

Senior guard Justin Johnson scored 24 pts on 8 three pointers to match his career high.

Controlling tempo was key, but holding the Buckeyes to 37.5% shooting and 3 for 21 from behind the arc was also a factor.

Iowa head coach Todd Lickliter wore bright white sneakers on the court in the second half against Ohio State, Saturday February 2, 2008 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, in Iowa City, Iowa. Over the weekend coaches from across the country wore sneakers instead of dress shoes to show support for the American Cancer Society.
