The Stack joins you today, snowed in in Marshall, Minnesota today after the blizzard came through the area over the weekend.  Quite unexpected actually or I wouldn't be stuck in Marshall.  And why do they name winter storms now anyway?  Ceasar?!  Really?!  Bad name for a winter storm.  Anyway, we're safe and no travel issues whatsoever unlike my buddy Terry Vandrovec from the Argus Leader (Sioux Falls).  Had quite the interesting day trying to get to the South Dakota State men's basketball game in Brookings, SD, from Sioux Falls yesterday.  Anyway, picks this week, were not that good.  Worst week in a while actually. 8-7 pending tonight's game between the Houston Texans and New England Patriots.  More on that game in a bit.  Right now though, it's time to get some reaction from the rest of Sunday's games in "the stack" for today, Monday, December 10:

St. Louis 15 Buffalo 12

The Bills didn't have a very productive day running the football and it certainly cost them a victory in this one.  The Rams win over the 49ers last week definitely instilled some confidence in them.  This was a good win for them.

Carolina 30 Atlanta 20

Thought the Panthers had a chance to win this game, but didn't think they would win it like this.  Cam Newton became the first player in NFL history with at least 250 passing yards, over 100 rushing yards, a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown in a single game. He was dynamic.  The Falcons have some major issues.  They were slow in this one from the get-go and their inability to run the football effectively is concerning for a team that has the best record in the NFC.  Perhaps they are not the best team in the NFC.

Dallas 20 Cincinnati 19

Big emotional win for the Cowboys after the passing of practice squad linebacker Jerry Brown and the arrest of nose tackle Josh Brent for intoxicated manslaughter.  The Bengals will be kicking themselves for leaving multiple opportunities for more points and to extend drives on the field.  That is why they lost.  But the Cowboys made the big plays when they needed to and not only got a win after a very difficult 36 hours, but also big for the NFC East and playoff standings.

Cleveland 30 Kansas City 7

First three-game win streak since 2009 is pretty big for the Browns.  This team is playing really hard and has improved a lot as the season has progressed.  Hope that that is enough to give coach Pat Shurmur a little more time.

Indianapolis 27 Tennessee 23

Andrew Luck wasn't that impressive, but he did help lead the Colts to yet another come-from-behind victory and keeps the Colts playoff hopes in good shape.  Of course, an easy pick-six always helps.  This Colts team just knows how to win and to never give up.

New York Jets 17 Jacksonville 10

Quite an unwatchable game.  Especially for the scores of fans who came to see Tim Tebow just stand on the sideline.  The Jets won and somehow are still alive for a playoff spot in the AFC.  Don't know how that's possible, but at 6-7, they are.

Minnesota 21 Chicago 14

Please Minnesota! Find some help for Adrian Peterson.  He is carrying the Vikings on his back.  He had over 100 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the first quarter alone.  154 yards for the day.  Christian Ponder is awful.  The Bears defense clearly missed Brian Urlacher and they may be missing Jay Cutler after he left with a neck injury.  That would doom the Bears season.

San Diego 34 Pittsburgh 24

The final result that almost no one saw coming.  With Ben Roethlisberger coming back, didn't think the Chargers had any chance of winning this game.  Head coach Norv Turner's status would seem to add only more of a distraction.  The Chargers won though and gave the Steelers what should have been a damaging loss, but with the Bengals loss, the Steelers loss wasn't catastrophic.  It wasn't good though.

Philadelphia 23 Tampa Bay 21

Finally!  The Eagles have won a game.  They snapped their eight game losing streak.  Didn't do it with Bryce Brown who was terrible running the football.  No, they did it with rookie quarterback Nick Foles who threw for 381 yards and two scores, including the game winner with no time remaining.  The Eagles appear to have a good quarterback on their team with a bright future.

Washington 31 Baltimore 28

Wonderful comeback win for Washington, but it did come with a price as RGIII injured his knee.  Thankfully for the Redskins and maybe the NFL in general, it's only a sprain, but we don't know if we'll see Griffin III next week.  Kirk Cousins was something though, coming in and throwing the game-tying touchdown and running in the two-point conversion.  Not bad for the rookie.  This loss is bad for Baltimore.  Bad defense at the end and with a tough remaining schedule, the Ravens are definitely reeling and struggling at the wrong time.

San Francisco 27 Miami 13

Yes, Colin Kaepernick did have a big 50-yard touchdown run that put the game out of reach, but the 49ers still haven't been really dominant like they should be and Kaepernick hasn't done enough to solidify himself as the starting quarterback.  Still, the 49ers are leading the NFC West and one of the top teams not just in the NFC, but the NFL.

New York Giants 52 New Orleans 27

The Giants said they must win out to make the playoffs.  They played like their playoff lives were on the line in this one.  Welcome to the NFL David Wilson.  The rookie was sensational with 227 return yards and 100 rushing yards as well as three total touchdowns (two rushing, one returning).  Another weapon the Giants can use on what they hope is another repeat run to not just the NFC East title, but the Super Bowl.

Seattle 58 Arizona 0

OMG!! Arizona is just awful.  Terrible quarterback situation.  For a lot of fantasy owners (myself included), Seattle's defense was fantasy gold.  Think this game says more about just how bad the Cardinals are versus how good Seattle is, though the Seahawks are a pretty good squad.

Green Bay 27 Detroit 20

An early 14-0 hole could have made the Packers and their fans worried, but when you've beaten a team twenty straight times at home as the Packers have done so to the Lions, you don't worry.  Make it twenty-one with this win.  Game turned when Matthew Stafford fumbled and the Packers returned it for a touchdown.  With the Bears recent struggles and the Packers getting healthier, they seem to have a pretty decent stronghold of the NFC North.

Houston Texans @ New England Patriots 8:30 PM ET ESPN

Perhaps the game of the year...at least on paper.  Both teams are very, very good.  The Texans are 11-1.  The Patriots are 9-3.  Both teams have great weapons on offense.  The Texans defense is really good, but they've struggled in recent weeks as injuries continue to mount.  This is a chance for them to make a statement to the nation.  Tom Brady might have his own message though and that is that the Patriots are still a very dangerous team and the favorite in the AFC until they are knocked down.  Flat out toss-up and I expect/hope this game comes down to the wire.

Prediction: Patriots 27 Texans 24

Coming up Tuesday: MNF reaction, NFL power rankings and other top stories from Monday/weekend.
