I'm killing myself here. It's sad. Even though I seem to have halted my freefall in the overall standings of my football pool (rising one spot from 52 to 51 on a 9-7 record), I am still living up to that "World's Worst Football Picks" name.
Strangely, I was perfect in every timeslot other than the Sunday 1 p.m. slate of games: I got the Thursday night matchup right, all three games in the 4 p.m. time slot, the Sunday night tilt and Monday night as well!
But, I only got three of the ten early games Sunday right. Argghhh...
I had been waiting for San Diego to break out but I didn't think they'd do it against Pittsburgh. Especially with Big Ben's inspirational comeback from injury.
I figured Atlanta was vulnerable but, after picking them to lose so many weeks in a row only to watch them pull another one out of the hat, I finally leapt onto the bandwagon for their match against Carolina and got bitten for it.
Buffalo let me down and I can't believe the Bengals let that one slip away against Dallas. Baltimore seems to be imploding on offense but I'm not sure firing your OC when you're still in it is the way to go.
Oh well. Another mediocre week in a season that started out well but then fell to pieces.
I'll finish by sending out kudos to the Patriots (who proved who the real number one in the AFC is), the Giants (who put together an inspired team effort against a struggling Saints club), and the Seahawks (who... okay, it was the lowly Cardinals but still... Wow. Holy smokes!).
And you got to feel for KC running back Jamaal Charles who deserves better after a performance like that. And for Adrian Peterson, who is having the season of a lifetime for Minnesota and yet stands a good chance of not making the playoffs and, because defenses will be able to focus solely on stopping him, might not even make it to the magical 2,000-yard plateau!
