World No. 1. Five-time Grand Slam champion. Cheesemonger. Novak Djokovic's gluten-free diet may have aided his success, but based on his offseason acquisitions, it's clear that he harbors no ill will toward lactose.
In one of the weirder stories of this offseason, one that included Bernard Tomic shirtlessly wrestling a friend in a hot tub, Djokovic has bought up the entire 2013 supply of the most expensive cheese in the world. Pule, a Serbian cheese made from donkey's milk, is produced at a small reserve in Zasavica, located about 50 miles west of Belgrade. The donkeys are milked by hand and it takes 25 liters of milk to produce one kilogram (2.2 pounds) of cheese.
So move over, Portland. It doesn't get more artisan than this.
Last month, the head of the reserve, Slobodan Simic, told Reuters that the white, crumbly cheese goes for between $1,700 and $2,900 a pound on the open market, but it's decided to sell one batch at about $600 a pound. The price was right for Djokovic, who has reportedly purchased the farm's entire 2013 production so he can serve the cheese, which has been described as similar to Spanish manchego, at his eponymous restaurants in Serbia.

Novak has a restaurant in Serbia that serves donkey cheese? Remind me to avoid Serbia on my next world tour.

When I was deployed to Panama for a security gig with the Army, I ONCE ordered a pizza from the Dominoes place outside the camp. I later found out after complaining about the taste to another (Wasn't terrible, just...different) local that it was made from goat cheese and monkey meat. Welcome to the jungle Mr. Army!! YIKES!

Wow. Monkey meat......I don't think you can find that at the domestic Dominoes.

Yeah, I was a bit freaked out about it, but you have to realize, it probably wasn't a real Dominoes pizza joint, but rather the locals abusing the naming rights. I would imagine they thought they could get more business by doing it. It worked! HA!

I would imagine that happens all the time in foreign countries.
A long time ago, I worked in a pizza place as a delivery driver. The worst was this guy that always ordered anchovie and onion pizzas. Stunk up my delivery truck every time he ordered one.

My favorite pizza is a FROZEN one I buy at COPPS (2 for 1 called Bellatoria), the Italian sausage and the Chicken Fatjeta. I add extra onions, green peppers, meat, and cheese (not to mention seasoning) to the original pizza, and end up creating a far better one. I've been too many a pizzeria, and none are finer then my creation....from a BASIC frozen one bought at a bloody supermarket! 2 pizzas...for $7.95 from the frozen shelf, created by an individual MASTER....is ALWAYS better than those POGUES at Dominoes and Pizza Hut...and ET-AL!!!

Pizza from a national chain ie: Dominos, Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, even Chucky Cheese is one step up from pepperoni on dry wall.

I guess I meant the same thing...LOL. At any-rate..I just can't stand all that dough! YUCK! I like the thin cracker crust with extra topping, that's why I just buy the ones at the supermarket, and then jack 'em up with extra stuff. Works great.

I do the same thing a lot. Usually the best pizza restaurants are the mom and pop kind of places, not the chains.

We have three 'Mom and Pop' pizza places within two miles of us. Unfortunately, none of them deliver or we'd be getting the best take-out at least three times a week! HA!
