 * * * TPA: TOP 10 SPORTS FILMS OF ALL TIME * * *

] 02 [ TBA

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

] 03 [ The Natural

Whenever this movie is played on TBS I always make time to see the ending. The movie shows us what is wrong in professional sports, but it also reminds us why we love our sports and the miracles of Wonderboy. Chase your dreams and live them out as best you can, for who knows it may become reality.

] 04 [ Tin Cup

Who the hell lays up in golf? Go for broke or just stay home IMO.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

] 05 [ Moneyball

My Babi and I found this movie to be quite enjoyable. Baseball stripped scientifically to gain an advantage, if any, against the bigger and richer market teams like the Yankees/Red Sox. Even this past season you could not help but see the Oakland A's success and not think "Moneyball" was delivering again. There was also a great lesson in life at the end of the movie, good stuff!

] 06 [ Point Break

Sorry Ahnold but there can only be one, and the Chosen1 on this list belongs to Johnny Utah. Is this a story about Cops and Robbers or more about Surfing and reaching Nirvana? Brah you can even throw in an adrenaline rush of Sky Diving and Beach Football in between your sets, this movie script had it all IMO.

] 07 [ Slap Shot

She's a??? Lesibian, a Lesbian, A LESBIAN!! I'm new to Hockey but I had to give this movie a fair shake and found it to be surprisingly enjoyable, and worth watching a few times over. Paul Newman should have won an Oscar for his portrayal of Con Man, Reg Dunlop. The Hanson brothers made the geek look fashionably stylish with a splash of red. Before you watch Miracle on Ice, watch this Hockey classic first to learn the finer points in Hockey.

] 08 [ Raging Bull

A great movie about Jack LaMotta portrayed by none other than Robert DeNiro. It's a brutal film that showases LaMotta's inner demons and struggles that unfortunately cascades tragically into his marriage and family. Tragically a great boxing movie.

] 09 [ Any Given Sunday

This is some what like a modern day version of North Forty Dallas, another good sports movie in it's own rights, but with more grit and a truck load of one liners:

I honestly believe that woman would eat her young.

What's next, stigmata?

You're a **** quarterback! You know what that means? It's the top spot, kid. It's the guy who takes the fall. It's the guy everybody's looking at first - the leader of a team - who will support you when they understand you. Who will break their ribs and their noses and their necks for you, because they believe. 'Cause you make them believe. That's a quarterback.

Perfect. ****. Ok stay here and get... butt **** by 12 Neanderthals. ****

I'll tell you this - in any fight, its the guy whose willing to die who's gonna win that inch.

Hey, unless you're gonna kiss me, get your hands off my ass.

Maybe it's not racism. Maybe it's just placism. A brother needs to know his place.

] 10 [ Hoosiers

What better way to start this off than with an American Classic like Hoosiers. Small Town basketball versus Big Time Ballers. In comes a mysterious new Head Coach that slowly wins over this small part of the Heartland. The Characters are challenged throughout the movie, but somehow they huddle up together to conquer their fears and also conquer their State Basketball Tournament FTW.

Honorable mention (not in any order): Shaolin Soccer

What happened to the post I left here yesterday???

December 18, 2012  02:53 PM ET

North Dallas 40, Bull Durham, Caddy Shack, Tin Cup and The Natural, were all good. I also enjoyed a made for HBO movie "Long Gone" starring William Peterson as 'Cecil "Stud" Cantrell'.

There are several others...

When it comes to sports films there is Hoosiers, then Caddyshack, then a bunch of other sports movies that aren't nearly as good.

Slapshot and Raging Bull are great calls.
