Yes, my friends, I posted my picks bravely online last week but failed to submit them to our Pool Commissioner. So....

I went 9-7 in my posted picks, which stinks. I wasn't doing badly, to be honest, until the late games on Sunday. I went two and four after 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Oh well. Had I submitted my picks, I would have earned 88 points, enough perhaps to have moved me up in the overall standings. But I forgot to submit so I sink ever lower.

What picks do I regret most particularly?

I regret putting that much faith in the Rams' defense. I thought: all they have to do is focus on shutting down Adrian Peterson and they're winners. So AP runs for more than 200 yards and I look like a fool.

I regret picking Philly over the Bengals. I thought maybe the Eagles had turned it around with their win the previous week. I didn't have much trust in Andy Dalton and the Bengals. I will learn from both those mistakes.

I regret Baltimore and Denver. I expect the Broncs to have a bad day one of these weeks and I thought the Ravens would respond with some level of pride to the axing of their offensive coordinator. Not this week for the Broncos; maybe never for the free-falling Ravens.

That's about it, to be frank. I don't think many people seriously expected Arizona to win and the Dallas-Pittsburgh, Oakland-KC match-ups were both really pick'em games anyway. San Fran surprised me but I think they caught the Patriots' defense napping a bit, resting on some laurels so to speak. I don't regret the pick; I'm just sorry I was wrong.

And speaking of that Steelers game, maybe someone should sit Ben Roethlisberger down and tell him to stop thinking he can stand in against every pass rush on every play. His over-confidence in the pocket late in the fourth quarter led to a couple of sacks that probably cost Pittsburgh the game. Know your limits, Ben. Stop reading your press clippings. Throw the ball away from time to time.

That sucks. Did you at least get the smallest amount of points earned in the pool? That's what ours does if you don't submit - the least amount of points minus 2.

I went 9-7 also but we had some different choices to get to the same result. My regrets were Baltimore, Cleveland and San Diego. But mostly, I just regret how I've been picking overall.

Agree with you on Ben, not only for field position but also his health.
