As the NHL season comes closer and closer to the trade deadline, and I've heard and read many different rumors and speculations about possible trades happening. Here are some that have been going around.
VANCOUVER CANUCKS GET: Mats Sundin
TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS GET: Alexander Edler, Ryan Kesler, 2 first round picks
ANALYSIS: I think that this is defiantly a great trade for the Maple Leafs, getting a valuable rookie defensemen who will be around for years to come in Edler, and getting a speedy forward who plays the power-play and the penalty kill in Ryan Kesler. The 2 first round draft picks also won't hurt. This is a hit-or-miss for the Canucks as they would probably do this to make a run for the Cup. Also, they will most likely sign him to just a one year contract and re-sign with the Leafs after anyways.
SAN JOSE SHARKS GET: Brian Campbell, Tim Connolly
BUFFALO SABRES GET: Jonathon Cheechoo, Milan Mihalek
ANALYSIS: This trade works out for the offensively challenged Sabres, who are looking for scoring to get into the playoffs. This trade doesn't make much sense for the Sharks in the sense that they are deep at the centre position, and Connolly is a centre. However, Campbell would be a huge pickup for a defensive core that has little to no offense.
OTTAWA SENATORS GET: Marion Hossa
ATLANTA THRASHERS GET: Patrick Eaves, Joe Corvo, first round draft pick, conditional second round draft pick
ANALYSIS: I just have one question. HOW CAN THE SENATORS AFFORD THIS! Cause if they can, this will do wonders for there chances to win the cup as long as they find some sort of goaltending. This trade also makes sense for the Thrashers, getting a 2 players and 2 high draft picks, the classis "selling" teams trade.
