The Adjusted Strength of Schedule is "adjusted" to remove a team's own wins, losses and ties from their opponents losses, wins and ties, respectively. It is intended to remove a team's ability to influence their own SOS. For example, the Jacksonville Jaguars finished with the #3 hardest Strength of Schedule; but 14 of those opponent wins were due to Jaguar losses. It could be argued that the Jaguars SOS looks stronger than it actually was - simply because the Jaguars weren't a very good team. By removing the Jaguars own win/loss/tie record from the equation (as well as every other team's) Jacksonville would actually drop to the #11 most difficult schedule of 2012.

I put a lot more effort into these things last year (additional charts of adjusting SOS's) but it turned out to be very time consuming. And I think some people found them confusing.

So I'm just keeping it short and simple this year. My main intention is simply to release the information before any of the major media outlets do.

QUOTE(#3):

You did them weekly last year...

Half ass weekly.

It was too much to keep up with. And quickly felt tedious to post it weekly.

Very well done, as always.

Will have to check on what the SOS was at the start of the season. I found it interesting comparing the start and the end last year.

Good work, (Un). Very proud of my Rams this year.

Thank you, (Un)... these are always one hell of a valuable resource, especially to be able to look back at over the years. Do you by chance have any archive where you can compare years? And, if not, would you be interested in creating one? I'd be happy to help you out with it if you're into the idea... I think it would be incredibly valuable as a reference for anyone and everyone who are interested in the minutiae of football and/or statistical analysis. FM me if you're down, or with a link if you've already got something like this...

Funny that the Lions will be penalized (picking 5th instead of 3rd) for the more difficult schedule. At any rate, I'd like to see the adjusted SOS (Un) mentioned, where games a team played are removed. For example, the Lions' opponents' record would be 132-106, instead of 144-110.

Okay I added it. Was being lazy last night.

Wow. Jacksonville had the toughest SOS in the AFC and only checked in at #11?NFC > AFC.Not even close.

Ha! I hadn't realized that.

I just ran the math out of curiosity... overall the AFC was 25-39 against NFC teams this year.

NFC was clearly the stronger conference.
