The Adjusted Strength of Schedule is "adjusted" to remove a team's own wins, losses and ties from their opponents losses, wins and ties, respectively. It is intended to remove a team's ability to influence their own SOS. For example, the Jacksonville Jaguars finished with the #3 hardest Strength of Schedule; but 14 of those opponent wins were due to Jaguar losses. It could be argued that the Jaguars SOS looks stronger than it actually was - simply because the Jaguars weren't a very good team. By removing the Jaguars own win/loss/tie record from the equation (as well as every other team's) Jacksonville would actually drop to the #11 most difficult schedule of 2012.

I put a lot more effort into these things last year (additional charts of adjusting SOS's) but it turned out to be very time consuming. And I think some people found them confusing.
So I'm just keeping it short and simple this year. My main intention is simply to release the information before any of the major media outlets do.

Ha! I hadn't realized that.
I just ran the math out of curiosity... overall the AFC was 25-39 against NFC teams this year.
NFC was clearly the stronger conference.
