It's signing day for college football, a day almost as exciting as Christmas (it would be even closer if I got a present!)
Anyway, I'm keeping up with Scout.com's signing day blog. It seems that Joe Adams signed with Arkansas (his home state) instead of USC (my loves!) I'm not so upset; after all, Southern Cal's going to get some good players and of course has a zillion returning and you never know how well and how quickly players transition to college. I just hope Adams didn't sign based on anything Bobby Petrino said to him, because pretty much everyone knows by now that Mr. B.P. talks out of both sides of his mouth. It's definitely not a given that he'll even still be with the Razorbacks by the time Adams is ready to start. Coaches are a big part of many players' decisions about which school to choose and it's pretty clear that while Pete Carroll isn't in a huge rush to go anywhere, Petrino has a history of saying he'll stay when he's already got a foot out the door.
Ohio State, on the other hand, has so far run its Signing Day just like it runs its games - very organized and orderly. "10:33 am EST: Ohio State entered national letter of intent day with 18 verbal commitments on their recruiting list and now all of those players have signed and faxed their papers in to the offices in Columbus." No big surprises or upsets there, just efficiency and results. It's soooo Jim Tressel.

Adams made the right move. Gosh knows USC has a tone of RB/WR athletes that unless he was extra special he was probably going to be on the pine for awhile.
