It's a strange time of the year for me.
Usually after Mother's Day I am waist (and hip-check) deep in the hockey playoffs and don't come up for air until the last Canadian team is out of the running. This year, with the anti-Leafs, Ottawa Sens, the only team left I am floundering in a wasteland of PBR bull riding and obscure documentaries on the Discovery channel. I think the Flames burnout against Detroit had a real impact on yours truly. My expectation were really high this year. Even after watching them in Dallas against the Stars I was still confident they would turn it on when it counted. It's a Darryl Sutter team after all. Can you say "reality check". Playfair may be the culprit. We will see.
Thank goodness Dice-K and my Red Sox are off to a fast start. Beckett looks great and the pen is solid with Papelbon and Okijima. And just think, Big Papi hasn't had to carry them yet and Manny is still hitting a mortals pace.
