Day 108 of the NHL lockout. Talks resume today between the two sides.
While hockey fans like me who are waiting to see if the NHL can get it together, there is hockey being played elsewhere.
Team Canada beat the host Russia yesterday 4-1 in World Junior action. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins tallied three assists and Jonathan Huberdeau got two points (1 goal, 1 assist) for Canada during the game. Goaltender, Malcolm Subban was the real hero for the Canadians as he made some spectacular saves. He ended up making a total of 21 saves. You can bet that the Boston Bruins are happy to see that.
There was more good news for Canadian hockey fans yesterday. Team Canada won the Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland, hammering the host team 7-2. Way to go guys!
There were some OHL action yesterday afternoon. Brampton defeated Mississauga 5-2 and Kingston beat Ottawa 7-5.
I also caught some NCAA football yesterday. Georgia Tech defeated USC in the Sun Bowl 21-7.
One baseball note to pass along. Kansas City have signed Endy Chavez and Miguel Tejada to Minor League contracts.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!! All the best in 2013.
