New Orleans fans and some of the media aren't happy with one of the bright spots on the New Orleans Hornet team, Greivis Vasquez.
Here is some comments about Vasquez I found in some blogs and articles:
"I'm sorry to tell you this but Greivis doesn't start for any other team in the league"
"Vasquez is a back-up playing a starter until a starter can be found"
"Too slow to play in the NBA"
"However, you seem to fail to remotely admit Vasquez has at least a few shortcomings that arguably make him a better fit as a BACKUP. With Rivers, for all those who do support him, it's all about the script not being written yet."
And there it is folks, the last quote tell us all we need to know, this pounding of Vasquez is all about the Austin Rivers fans wanting to have their guy on the court even though Rivers has proven time and time again that he struggles directing the offence.
What New Orleans fans and some of the media apparently don't understand is that Vasquez is also a young point guard who is developing as a starter, he was a great backup on a playoff team a few years ago, not just filling in but helping Memphis get to the playoffs.
Austin Rivers is a long way from being the player to lead at point guard, he does have skills and probably can score 20 a night but that won't help a team win, just take a look at the Cavs and Kyrie Irving.
Folks all I'm saying is give Vasquez a break, support him for 2 or 3 years until the so call second coming of MJ gets ready.
All this belittling of the guy just doesn't help the the team, sure there is lots of turnovers but just in case you haven't read the stats THE WHOLE TEAM HAS A TURNOVER EPIDEMIC..the whole team has a turnover epidemic is not just Vasquez, maybe just maybe is coaching.
Here are the Greivis Vasquez stats:
Pts. 13.5....reb. 4.4....Ass. 8.8... not bad, not bad at all.
He was also selected the western conferance of the week, Hornets went 2-1 during that week averaging 21.0 points, 10.0 assists, 6.3 rebounds and 1.7 steals while shooting 53.1 percent from the field.
Yep, New Orleans fans lets sit this guy on the bench.
