It's been a great season so far, and now that the regular season is behind us it's time for me to tell you who I think will win in this year's NFL award season.
MVP: Adrian Peterson - Minnesota Vikings
He's been a beast this year, returning less than a year after ACL and MCL surgery, almost breaking Eric Dickerson's single season rushing record, and not to mention he pretty much single handedly took the Vikings who had the 3rd worst record in the NFL last year to the playoffs this year. He is the driving force of this team and without him they'd probably have another top 5 pick this year.
Runner Up: Peyton Manning - Denver Broncos
Coach of the Year: Chuck Pagano/Bruce Arians - Indianapolis Colts
I don't think there's any doubt about this one. They had the worst record last year, and with him at the helm and with Andrew Luck of course, are in the playoffs. Even with Pagano missing time they didn't miss a beat.
Runner Up: Pete Carroll - Seattle Seahawks, Mike Shanahan - Washington Redskins
Offensive Rookie of the Year: Andrew Luck - Indianapolis Colts
Once again, I don't think there is any doubt about this one. From worst record in the league last year to a playoff team. Putting up over 4,000 yards and setting other rookie records seals this award for him.
Runner Up: Robert Griffin III - Washington Redskins, Russell Wilson - Seattle Seahawks
Defensive Rookie of the Year: Janoris Jenkins - St Louis Rams
A surprise pick here, but the stats prove he could win. Top 10 in tackles for rookies, and he also is top 10 in the NFL in interceptions and tied for 1st in the NFL with 3 pick 6's.
Runner Up: Luke Kuechly - Carolina Panthers, Casey Heyward - Green Bay Packers
Offensive Player of the Year: Adrian Peterson - Minnesota Vikings
One year off of major knee surgery he comes close to breaking the single-season rushing record, and is hands down the best running back in the league.
Runner Up: Peyton Manning - Denver Broncos
Defensive Player of the Year: J.J. Watt - Houston Texans
This guy is a straight up beast. 2nd year in the league, he's already arguably the best defensive player in the league. 20.5 sacks, and also has coined the nickname J.J. Swatt, for his ability to knockdown balls at the line.
Runner Up: Aldon Smith - San Francisco 49ers
Comeback Player of the Year: Adrian Peterson - Minnesota Vikings
No explanation needed. See MVP and Offensive Player of the Year.
Runner Up: Peyton Manning - Denver Broncos
