As I watched the Superbowl with much disdain Sunday night, I realized why Dan Snyder was in no hurry to name a head coach. It became readily apparent to me as Spagnoulo got more airtime play then a defensive coordinator in NFL history, that this man was what Snyder was waiting for.

After a full day interview fallowing a 90 minute phone call, this would seem to be the case. Is Spagoulo the guy? Is he experienced enough? Does his style fit the personnel?

You tell me...

Obligatory Joe Gibbs ties: Steve Spagnoulo's first NFL experience was as a Player Personnel Intern for...THE Washington Redskins in 1983...A team coached by Joe Gibbs

I think I'd rather have Spagnuolo than Jim Fassel or Steve Mariucci.

Spagnuolo over Fassel or Mariucci ANY day.

Great scheme that pressured Brady like crazy. If a defense can make the best scoring team the NFL has ever seen fall apart like that, then he must be the best candidate.

But then again, we'll have to see. Snyder might screw this deal up, too...

Defensive Coordinators don't make "Great" Head Coaches!!! I choose Mariucci. Defense is not our problem we need more consistent play from the offense. We have great players on offense we could use a big reciever but other than that we have great skill players .Lets get an offensive coach!!!
If we are going to run he west coas offense let's get a coach that knows how to run it. Get Mariucci!!!

Although it's all irrelevant now that Spagnuolo has resigned with the Giants, I say they can keep him. In reality the play rush the Giants used against the Patriots in the Super Bowl was not really different than the play rush they used against them in the regular season. What happened was that the players disguished what they were going to do a lot better. Yes, good coaching, but not genius. What gets me is that NO ONE noticed that Spagnuolo called off the dogs in the 4th quarter during the Patriots final, go ahead drive. They went into this prevent, cover defense. If you ask me, Spagnuolo is an idiot! As a Patriots fan, I watched that and said, "Thank you!" It was a gift! If the Giants had been shut down on their final drive, and the Pats would ahve won, everyone would have gone back to the Patriots final drive and Spagnuolo would have a lot of explaining to do.

So now, we're back to square one??
Find SOMEBODY, ANYBODY!!! Dig up Otto Graham (literally) if you have to, but get a mo-frickin' coach, PLEASE!!!

February 8, 2008  02:06 PM ET

Well, we'll find out in a year or two what kind of a head coach Spags is; I still say he's a genius because he had the brains to turn down the Skins and wait until there's a job with a team that'll let him have some control. I guess I'm pulling for Ron Meeks now...

I think we're ALL united now, that Snyder effed it up yet AGAIN.
Oh, this is SO not gonna go over well in Redskins Nation...JIM ZORN is the head coach??
WHY are we being punished??
