After 113 days, the NHL lockout appears to be over as both sides have come up with a tentative agreement after a 16 hour negotiation session that began yesterday afternoon. The new CBA has yet to be voted on by the players and owners.
There was still some hockey being played elsewhere yesterday.
Team Canada is coming home empty as they lost the bronze medal game to Russia 6-5 at the World Junior Championship. The Americans took the gold as they defeated Sweden 3-1.
In AHL action, the Toronto Marlies defeated Rockford 5-2.
In OHL action last night, London edged Kitchener 3-2.
There was also NCAA hockey action last night. Merrimack defeated Vermont 4-1.
Only one baseball note to pass along. The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed J.P. Howell to a one-year contract according to sources.
