I know it's late to be talking about John Amaechi, but im very upset with the way things were handled. First, the whole coming out. Why wait till now to do it, other then the fact that you want your book to sell. If you were truly proud of who you are, you would have done it during the time you were playing, not be ashamed of it and wait untill it prospers you best. But fine, i could get over that. Its your choice. But the thing that irritates me most is Tim Hardaway. Why is it that in America, where free speech is key to an American, one gets in trouble for speaking his mind? It is perfectly accecptable now to agree with homosexuality, but someone who is against it is crucified? Personally, i dont have a problem with homosexuals. They do whatever they want, they dont bother me. But it should be perfectly normal for someone to not agree with it. Tim Hardaway stated that he felt uncomfortable with having a homosexual teammate and does not agree with homosexualtiy. I did not hear in his speech how he wants to hurt homosexuals or slander them. He just said he doesnt beleive in it. I want to applaud you Mr Hardaway, but i cant. You dropped the ball when you apologized for what you said. Let me rephrase that. You dropped the ball when they made you apologize for what you said. Just like i said before, you should'nt be ashamed of who you are. Whether you are homosexual, homophobic, black, white, purple green, blue...you should stand by what you say and who you are. Dont go with the grain and have original thoughts. And it was disgusting how the NBA cut ties with Tim Hardaway for his beliefs. That is just as wrong as if they had cut ties with Amaechi for being homosexual.
