The only big news in hockey this week so far is Detroit naming Hendrik Zetterberg their new captain, replacing Nicklas Lidstrom who retired recently.

Washington have signed Rafael Soriano to a two-year, $28 million contract.
Arizona has signed J.J. Putz to a one-year contract extension.
